The Sherborne Tapestry Centre was established twenty years ago
by Dorothy Phelan and Elizabeth Bradley and is housed in "The
Julian", Cheap Street, Sherborne - a beautiful historic
town in North Dorset.
The building itself is sixteenth century but stands on the site
of the original "La Juliannyes Inne" which was given
to the Almshouse in 1437. "La Juliannges" refers to
Dame Julian of Norwich who took her name from the church where
she was anchoress, which was dedicated to St. Julian, the patron
saint of travellers.
