| About Us The
Sherborne Tapestry Centre was established twenty years ago by
Dorothy Phelan and Elizabeth Bradley and is housed in "The
Julian", Cheap Street, Sherborne - a beautiful historic
town in North Dorset.
The building itself is sixteenth century but stands on the site
of the original "La Juliannyes Inne" which was given
to the Almshouse in 1437. "La Juliannyes" refers to
Dame Julian of Norwich who took her name from the church where
she was anchoress, which was dedicated to St. Julian, the patron
saint of travellers.
We are on the town's tourist trail and are very happy for people
just to come and have a look at the building but please, ladies,
don't let your husbands try the splashback!! There is a men's
crèche area with a seat and copies of magazines such
as "What Car?" and "Beano".
All of us who work here are stitchers so we can always advise
and help sort out problems - even if the kit wasn't bought from
us.
Do let us know if you are a marker of The Embroiderers Guild,
The Cross Stitch Guild or West Country Embroiderers - produce
your card and you will be given a discount.
